How often do you post?
My policy is to post three times each week on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays. I'll always post something.
But if my kid is sick (or I'm sick) it might turn into a poetry festival for a short time. Hey, a little literary inspiration never hurt anyone.
Do you have a comment policy?
The comments on this blog are moderated my me. I welcome healthy and diplomatic debate, but not mean-spiritedness. I'm always open to new opinions and new ideas. We don't need to see eye to eye to respect one another. I'm a huge fan of the notion, "Let's agree to disagree."
And for the record, if you know me personally and have an issue to discuss, this blog is not the place for it. Please contact me directly in a private forum. Thanks for your understanding.
What blogs do you read?
I lurk on a lot of blogs. So I'm reading different blogs all the time (and most likely yours!). Most of them are woman, parenting, social media oriented. But I'm a big fan of personal art, books and plan old snarky, quirky thoughts. If any of those describe your blog I may have been there or will be.
I'll admit, my favorite blog is PostSecret. Is it Sunday yet?
What inspired the name The Good Enough Witch?
Like so many things in my life, its' an eclectic mix of ideas:
First there's my life long fascination with the film, The Wizard of Oz. Self explanatory as far as I'm concerned there. My favorite line from the film is, "Unusual weather we're having ain't it?" spoken by the Cowardly Lion as he awakens in the snow covered poppy field.
Second, remember Al Franken's character Stuart Smalley the nerdy self-help guru on Saturday Night Live? Stuart's primo affirmation was, "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it...people like me." I love Stuart. I own his affirmations CD. It was from this CD I first encountered the term "grandiose."
And finally, my favorite comic strip in the world is Rhymes With Orange by Hilary B. Price. Thankfully, it is syndicated in my local San Jose Mercury News where I read it daily. Many years ago, Ms. Price featured a single cell strip showing The Good Witch of the North lying on her therapist's couch. And Ms. Witch says, "First someone asks you for a heart, then someone asks for a brain. The next thing you know they're calling at all hours. It just gets to be too much. Can't I just be good enough?" I've done therapy, I love The Wizard of Oz and I'm a recovering perfectionist. Welcome to my world.
Can I call you Cindy?
Not unless you really want to piss me off (or you've known me for a really, really long time and you just can't help yourself). That was the name of my youth...and it reminds me of Cindy Brady, her golden curled pigtails (I'm a brunette) and her little girl lisp...I just can't do it.
I'm a grown woman and my name is Cynthia thank you very much. All my friends call me Cyn and you can too.
